The Finn Residence represents three different CMK Architect's projects for this growing family of five. A major addition gave the home a master bedroom suite, an extra bedroom, and a renovated children's bathroom. It also provided the home with a new kitchen and breakfast area overlooking the large family room.
Within the existing house, spaces were reprogrammed. The dining room became a relaxing library designed with a mahogany veneered interior that creates a warm inviting space. The living room became the formal dining room with its fireplace and the old kitchen was transformed into a mud room. Further additions included a pool room with built-in benches for seating and storage. All new additions have radiant floors, making the easy to care for slate and limestone comfortable in socks yet efficient enough to heat the high ceiling spaces.
It was important to the client that each space had its own unique character. The cabinets, while detailed in a contemporary fashion, maintain a traditional feel and compliment the space. All millwork was custom with the balusters cut like pine trees and the materials matching the cherry, maple and purple wood used in the cabinet's doors.
